Persefone

Oil on Wood

This painting was inspired by the myth of Persephone — a story I’ve always found both beautiful and unsettling. I didn’t want to paint her as a goddess, but as a woman caught between two worlds, holding something that is both life and burden.

The pomegranate felt important — not as a symbol, but as something real, something you can hold and feel the weight of. It’s small, but it carries the whole story. The moment I wanted to capture is quiet — that space before a decision, before everything changes.

The warm background and the soft light are there to keep the painting calm, even though the story behind it isn’t.
