Spring Awakening

Graphite pencil on paper

Spring Awakening grew from my fascination with how the human figure can exist in dialogue with nature. I drew the woman and the surrounding birds and flowers together as if they were part of one rhythm — hands, wings, petals, and hair moving into each other. The crow stands as a darker presence, a counterpoint to the lighter birds, while the flowers and moth remind me of how fragile and cyclical life is. I chose pencil to keep the focus on form and atmosphere, without the distraction of color, echoing older traditions of allegorical drawing. For me, it is about balance — calm against movement, light against shadow, transience against renewal.
